It's automatically special to be a part of someone's wedding day, and it's doubly special when it's for a friend like Katie and her swell new husband Lorenzo. And Katie's wedding was thirdly special because their wedding was in one of my favorite parts of Central Park, the Wisteria Pergola inside the Conservatory Garden.
Read MoreHappy Second Birthday Clara!
I met Clara and her family last summer and I was immediately impressed at how sweet and friendly she was, even going so far as to sharing her toys with everyone around her -- even me! And I was incredibly excited when Clara's mom asked me to photograph her second birthday at the NY Kids Club. I hadn't realized that such a place existed before I showed up and imagine my surprise when I walked into the backroom and found child-sized gymnasium complete with a balance beam, horizontal bars, blow up toys and a huge trampoline!
Read MoreDamian Lillard + Talib Kweli
I don't get to photograph nearly as many music shows as I'd like, so I was excited to get in front of Talib Kweli for a special event at the Harman Store last weekend. And not only was it about as small and intimate a show as you could ever ask for, but I also got to see NBA baller and rapper Damian Lillard aka Dame D.O.L.L.A. and a group of talented emcees who had participated in his #4barFriday freestyle challenge on Instagram.
Read MoreNo Name Art Show
I'm constantly reminded why I love to photograph events, and that happened last week when I showed up to take pictures at a small art show deep in Brooklyn and I had no idea what to expect.
Read MoreHappy 21st Birthday, Time Out New York
Birthdays tend to get quieter and duller as we get older but thank goodness Time Out New York knows how to celebrate its big day right. Hundreds gathered at Bowlmor at Chelsea Piers for arcade games, laser tag, rope courses, beer pong and, oh yeah, bowling. Took me right back to my younger days with the exception of plenty of adult beverages on hand and boozy cupcakes by Prohibition Bakery. Happy Birthday, Time Out!
Read MoreA Fearless Force Speaker Event
I've photographed my share of speaking events, but few stand out like this Fearless Force Speaker series event that featured powerful messages from a diverse group of women.
Read MoreGraduation Photos With Noaf
Earlier this summer I was excited to record the graduation of Noaf and her family. We tried to get me inside to record the actual graduation ceremony but the school wasn't having that so we did the next best thing and photographed Noaf and her family outside Madison Square Garden and the nearby Madison Square Park which isn't really all that close considering they have almost the same name.
Read MoreIBM Watson Corporate Meeting
I know, I know, it probably looks like I photograph extravagant parties every day, but I do put on my dress pants sometimes to record corporate happenings like this meeting between some of IBM's Watson team and Hu Chunhua, Politiburo Member of the Community Party of China and Party Secretary of Guangdong Province.
Read MoreSunset Sail Happy Hour
The last time I was on a boat was almost 20 years ago so I was a wee bit wobbly getting on the Zephyr water taxi last month to photograph the Sunset Sail Happy Hour event by Time Out New York.
Read MoreBattle of the Burger!
The cruel irony of photographing the epic Battle of the Burger event last month for Time Out New York is that I had recently stopped eating beef.
Read MoreDinner with Chef Marcus Samuelsson
One of the things I love about photographing events is how my job takes me to cool places all over New York, like Chef Marcus Samuelsson's restaurant Streetbird Rotisserie in Harlem.
Read MoreRooftop Happy Hour at PHD
With all due respect to The Little Mermaid's Sebastian, I think being up high can be pretty cool too, especially up on the PHD rooftop lounge during Time Out's summertime event series.
Read MoreTime Out Pool Party: McCarren Hotel
Earlier this summer I started working with Time Out New York's events team to capture some of their summertime bashes and first up was a wet and wild pool party at the McCarren Hotel.

Back in July, I was lucky enough to photograph Jim and Nisha during their Mehndi henna and wedding ceremonies at some incredible locations in Hawaii, including the Kualoa Ranch -- probably better known as the real-life location of Jurassic Park.
Read MoreBirthday Fun at The Painted Cloud
I was reminded how much fun birthday parties can be when Time Out New York sent me to Brooklyn to photograph little Zoe's party at The Painted Cloud, which hosted the kind of arts-and-crafts affair that I wish I had had when I was a little guy.

I was in Hawaii back in mid-January when they almost hosted The Eddie. I'm not sure how big the waves were at Pipeline, but they were big!
Read MoreWine Tasting
I can't drink very much wine because I'm a total lightweight, but that didn't stop me from geeking out at a recent wine tasting series I photographed for the International Event & Exhibition Management team.
Read MoreThe Star Wars Birthday You've Been Looking For
There isn't much I'd be tempted to change in my life if I could go back and do it all over, but boy would I like to give my five-year-old self a birthday party like this Star Wars extravaganza I photographed last month. The lucky birthday girl and her friends learned how to wield a lightsaber from a visiting Jedi -- just in time to help him defeat Darth Vader who just happened to walk by.

Last month I helped photograph a monster party celebrating TGI Friday's 50th anniversary. Hundreds of franchise owners and employees were on hand and amazingly there was room to spare because the party was hosted on a
Dollypalooza
Back in early September, Time Out sent me to Brooklyn to cover Dollypalooza, the "epic fan tribute" to singer Dolly Parton. If I'm honest with myself, I expected this to be a strange night, with drag queen dancers and Dolly Parton singalongs on the schedule. And it was! But in a really, really positive way!
