It's automatically special to be a part of someone's wedding day, and it's doubly special when it's for a friend like Katie and her swell new husband Lorenzo. And Katie's wedding was thirdly special because their wedding was in one of my favorite parts of Central Park, the Wisteria Pergola inside the Conservatory Garden.

The Star Wars Birthday You've Been Looking For
There isn't much I'd be tempted to change in my life if I could go back and do it all over, but boy would I like to give my five-year-old self a birthday party like this Star Wars extravaganza I photographed last month. The lucky birthday girl and her friends learned how to wield a lightsaber from a visiting Jedi -- just in time to help him defeat Darth Vader who just happened to walk by.
Read MoreWest Indian-American Day Parade
The vague memories I have of seeing the West Indian-American Day Parade about six years ago are mostly of sun, feathers and dancing. Which was actually pretty accurate for when I shot it again on Labor Day for Time Out New York.
Read MoreFun In The Park
Last Sunday was the perfect day for a fun shoot in the park with Sunaina so she could get some beautiful new profile pictures.
Read MoreJazz In The Park
The only thing I know about jazz is that you can't make jazz hands without it, but even my total cluelessness on the subject didn't stop me from enjoying the New York Jazzharmonic's performance at the Washington Square Music Festival last night.
Read MoreHappy Fourth Of July!
Despite having lived in New York for six years (that seems far too long but yikes it's true), I've never seen Macy's fireworks extravaganza. This year my girlfriend and I decided to change that by heading up to the Long Island City river park and join the thousands of others lying in wait. And wow was it worth the effort. To borrow a line from Seinfeld, I can confirm that the Macy's fireworks are real and they're spectacular. It was a legit half hour of the largest explosions I've seen in real life and the sound was so loud that the echoes bouncing off the buildings behind us felt like a tank battalion chasing after Dr. Jones.
Hot In Queens
I've shot races for the NYRR for more than five years now but only rarely do I get to sit on the back of the lead truck and take pictures of the fastest runners.
Read MoreThe Little Mermaids Of The Mermaid Parade
This was my first Mermaid Parade and it had lots of the skin and alcohol and laughter that I had heard so much about. But also lots and lots of kids.
Read MoreBug Eyes
I hauled around my new wide-angle lens while running errands today and once again I was astounded by the sheer variety of sights on display in New York.
Read MoreClassical Music In The Park
Rolling clouds and light showers couldn't drive people away and together we toughed out the weather delays to enjoy a wonderful show by the New York Philharmonic and violinist Joshua Bell, who is so good and so popular that even I know who he is.
Read MoreLooking good, New Jersey
One of the good things about living in New York is that there are no bad spots to test out new camera gear. I chose Brookfield Place near the Hudson River. Good choice, I think.

For getting caught in the rain.
You Win This Round, Manhattanhenge
I went for a different look at Manhattanhenge yesterday, but the clouds were the same old dicks. Next date is in July. Do I really want to try this again?
A Little Rain Won't Stop Tiki Barber
I somehow took his photo in the middle of the Brooklyn Half Marathon a couple of weeks ago without even realizing it.
Maybe Next Time, Manhattanhenge
The clouds apparently did not want me to get my epic shot of Manhattanhenge. Maybe next time.
Nutcracker Ballet
I was scrolling through my archives and came across these photos I took of a Nutcracker ballet performance a few years ago. I'm still not sure how humans can move like that.

It took two weeks of waiting to get into the surprisingly exclusive Meow Parlour that is perhaps better known as NYC's first cat cafe.
Read MoreDada J.P. Vaswani
It's not every day that you get to hear spiritual leader Dada J.P. Vaswani speak to a small group. It's even rarer to receive this special gift, along with his blessing, on your birthday. I must be one lucky guy.

A few of my favorite photos from the dual birthday party of Pippa Cohen and Bertha Gonzalez Nieves. You can't see it but behind the camera I'm mouthing the words to "California Love."

I thought I knew what a Holi festival was like, having photographed NYC Bhangra's Holi Hai a week ago, but boy oh boy is the Festival of Colors: Holi NYC a different beast.
