Last month I helped photograph a monster party celebrating TGI Friday's 50th anniversary. Hundreds of franchise owners and employees were on hand and amazingly there was room to spare because the party was hosted on a motherflipping aircraft carrier!
Just to give you an idea of how large this thing was, there were separate rooms set up for each decade of the restaurant chain's existence. Frankie Valli and Martha Reeves sang in the entrance; followed by a rollerblade disco floor for the '70s; Prince, Michael Jackson, Tina Turner and other '80s performers held court in the next room; and a '90s cover band belted out nonstop hits (and an occasional trivia contest) on the other side of the stage. And then guests could go up another flight to see all the planes parked on the aircraft carrier's deck, and oh yeah, the Space Shuttle Enterprise was just hanging out there too. I think I know what I want for my next birthday party :D
