Artist Ivan Navarro designed an art installation at Madison Square Park that references the immigration experience through neon words and shapes reflected within water towers. I couldn’t find a description at the park so I just admired the pretty lights. Here’s an explanation.

Finally saw MisterWives in person tonight at the Bowery Ballroom after we covered them at SXSW for Milk Made. Singer Mandy Lee is a five-tool musician. I don’t know what those tools are, but whatever people need to hit it big, she has it. Extra points also for being real enough to talk about her bandmates’ collateral pee splashes that she has to clean up.

It kills me that I get to work with such talented, humble people. This video of Theophilus London’s performance at Milk’s Jam Room was put together by one guy, Jose Cota. All it took was a bunch of cameras and serious skills.
I prefer Neil Gaiman’s shorter books like Coraline and The Ocean at the End of the Lane. They’re like half-remembered childhood fantasies like that time I tried to build a roller coaster out of two blocks of wood. If Neil Gaiman had been a kid down the street from me, our roller coaster would’ve had fairy creatures and interdimensional demon things and it would have been terrifying and amazing at the same time and we would’ve learned a life lesson at the end of it. That would’ve been so cool.
Finally, an artist who encapsulates my twin loves for golden Motown vocals with half-naked Ron Jeremy lookalikes. My colleague wrote about Har Mar Superstar not too long ago, and now I want to invite him to hitchhike across the country with me.
Overheard at the voice tunnel this morning: “Luke, Luuuuuuuuke, I am your father.”
Wolverine can take a lot of bullets even without his healing ability. He’s more heroic and interesting that way, like Bigby from Fables. Anyone else want to see a mortal Wolverine as a down-on-his-luck detective?
