I really should be in bed right now, but screw it I just had to share these photos from tonight's Lightsaber Battle hosted by Newmindspace, the same guys who did the Pillow Fight several months back.

Compared with the pillow brouhaha this was a much gentler affair and I only got bopped once when a lightsaber duelist backed into my face. But for the most part everything was controlled chaos. Hundreds gathered near the Washington Square Park fountain to raise their lightsabers and cheer (actually it sounded and felt a lot like what happened at the waterfight earlier in the summer), while smaller groups peeled off for duels and skirmishes.

I saw one dad and son take on a dual-wielding warrior, while another full Jedi fought against any takers. There was at least one Sith Lord roaming through the park with a double-bladed lightsaber though he was nice enough to stop and spin his weapon for my camera. And of course there was Princess Leia who didn't look like she needed any help holding her own.
