Yesterday I shot an amazing dance off at the Brooklyn Museum for Time Out New York. I'm not sure what I expected (yes I do -- Channing Tatum), but the actual performance was so much more than just a bunch of guys busting moves. Mindlezz Thoughtz was the group that hosted the event, and among other things they use dancing to offer a safe and creative outlet for young people.
I could see the wisdom in their choice of outlets because the dance party drew in more than a hundred people from the area to watch and cheer and in some cases even jump in with some slick moves. I saw moms dancing with their kids, young guys pulling off insane routines with their hats and shoes, and one dude rolled up, took off his blazer and proceeded to backflip around the dance circle like he was ordering a ham sandwich from a bodega. Probably better actually, because I never can decide which sandwich I want to order.
If you have a second please check out and share the Time Out article, and also please enjoy a few of my favorite photos. Thanks!
